Freeland and the Community Recreation Center are centrally located on M-47 between Saginaw, Bay and Midland.
The principal service area of the FCSA mirrors the Freeland Community School District. The secondary target area is identified by a five mile radius which encompasses three counties ( Saginaw, Bay, Midland) and six townships (Ingersoll, Tittabawassee, Frankenlust, Kochville, Saginaw, Richland). This service district does not currently house any recreational facilities.
The Freeland Community Sports Association’s Community Recreation plan includes one building with excellent highway exposure, located on M-47, directly south of Kochville Rd. This building will house a medical facility and a Community Recreation Center. The Freeland Community Sports Association a 501(c) Corporation will operate and maintain the Community Recreation Center which will be open to public use.
The Community Recreation Center would greatly benefit the targeted service area for three main principles. The main purpose for a Community Recreation Center will be to replace an already deteriorating community hall. The community hall area will house senior meals, boys and girls scouts, 4-H and senior activities and other family functions, such as weddings, showers, and birthday parties. Another function of the Community Recreation Center will include a fitness area which will accommodate basketball and volleyball courts, a running track, aerobic and exercise areas. And lastly, the Community Recreation Center will be an economic development that encourages advancement of health and medical services in the area.
